Sandy Cay Eco Trip

When it comes to exploring nature, The Bahamas has plenty to offer. We play host to some of the most intriguing, exotic and mysterious natural phenomena on the planet. In the Bahamas you will find the world’s deepest blue hole, the third-largest barrier reef in the world, miles of pink-sand beaches, the world’s largest colony of pink flamingos, the endangered Bahama Parrot, the unusual Andros Iguana, a wild horse preserve and countless nature preserves.

About the Trip

Our trip to Sandy Cay in the Exuma’s, a beautiful, remote cay where the famous movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” was filmed, includes seeing the very rare Sandy Cay Iguana (Cyclura Cristata) in their natural habitat, gorgeous beaches and sandbanks, various bird species as Gulls, Ospreys and the White Crowned Pigeon, and many times, small sharks and rays that swim around in the flats. It is about a 30min. boat ride from Stella Maris on our 30’ Contender, “Catch Yaself”, comfortable for approx. 8-10 Guests.

Fun for the entire family!

First stop is at the Farm to see the animals and see our famous swimming pigs, then if you like to snorkel a bit the crew will stop at a coral head on the way over to Exuma. They will then make a deliciously fresh Conch Salad for you when you reach Sandy Cay, while you explore the stunning beauty of the island and beach. Tropical cocktails is never a bad idea so bring along or order booze ahead of time with Docky.

For an additional fee of $400 the trip can continue on over to Exuma’s Chat ‘n Chill Beach and Bar to have a drink, some food and swim with the Sting Rays. Additional driving time is approx. 1.5 hours.
